Crew:Conner, Carson, Brian, Eric, Pat, Beck & me.
Plan was to start at the 280 to check water conditions then work south. We were worried the water was still gonna be shoved out but to our surprise it was 70-71 pretty blue & minimal current. Trolled all over the rocks in, out, up & down 300- 257 only managed 2-3 bites & none stayed tight so we decided to drop on the marks we found on the 257 in about 47 fathoms. From then on it was pretty much non stop bent over rods, usually with everyone hooked up at the same time. Guys going over & under fighting to keep lines apart & away from the running gear on rods not much bigger than Bass rods. Lots of fun.
The Amberjack are on the bottom to start but once one is hooked they come up & hit the other lines. The guys quickly learned to keep off the bottom unless you wanted your & everyone elses ass's kicked. We also had some serious epic battles with sharks that lead to lost tackle & sore backs. Anyways for us it was all the Jacks & False alberts you could stand but no Blackfin.
Thanks to a call from Capt Ben we ran a bit south to join the small Hatteras & TF fleet.
With the clock ticking managed to scratch out a decent save with 7 Blackfin for the box. (sorry no #'s cause it was not my spot)
Lots of fun with countless hookups & long fights on light tackle. Also some pretty epic shark battles & lost tackle. Fun day but also dissapointing to see such an overall lack of fish on the troll. Water was 71 & pretty as you want . Very little current.
Largest Blaclfin was 24lbs. Most were 15-21lbs. Blackfin markes from 14-22 fathoms. Jacks were from 32 fathoms to the bottom. Albes were everywhere & look just like a Blackfin mark which will drive ya crazy.
Good fishing with the other Tidal bowlers.
