If Tuckahoe lake is ice free - fishing under the bridge was always good. You need a freshwater license.

Little more of a drive but Salisbury offers some good Crappie fishing - right in town. The river has a lot of bulkheads and the area near Rt. 50 bridge was always good.

Live minnows are the #1 bait with live minnows being the second choice :D. Tiny 1/32 oz twister will work but a 2 inch minnow is tough to beat.I like 4 lb test - a #6 hook and one tiny split shot.Cast it out gently and reel in with a lot of pauses.

Have 1-2 bobber rigs out as well - one down 3 feet - the other at 4 or 5 feet.

Try Smithville lake. Take Rt 50 to Rt 404. Follow 404 to the last road in Maryland (Noble Road) and this takes you right to the lake. Launch your canoe at the ramp and fish with shiners (or minnows) under a bobber. You can also throw any bass lures you want. Smithville holds bass, chain pickeral, and crappie. I can't believe the lake would still be frozen, but if there is limited access, they have a spillway you can fish. Bite gets better later in the evening. Take your time getting there and fish from 2:00 til dark. 5th (Marty)

Transquaking River is great for crappie. And excellent for a canoe, pretty protected. Check the fishing maps, there is a boat ramp you can use to launch. TQ is just east of Cambridge.
Transquaking is more to the south of Cambridge in the Blackwater Refuge . You can hit a lot of the bridges there and on the Blackwater . Decousey Bridge , Bestpitch , Shorters Wharf , Drawbridge on the Chicawicomico , New Bridge , etc. Like Skip said , downtown Salisbury has plenty of crappie , just wouldn't want to eat any from there .
