My new bride and I are planning to visit Maine for our honeymoon in July. I know some of you are thinking, "Man, his fishingg days are numbered!" but she, like me loves to fish.

We probably would like to fish from shore once and perhaps a headboat another time. We don't really care what we fish for but I know she'd love to catch a striper or two. We will be staying in the Southern Coast and Portland area.

Any suggestions? We are on a bit of a budget, so nothing wild like over $75 per person for the boat. If you have lodging suggestions for the romantic stay with fishing right within casting distance, shoot me those ideas too.

Thanks and tight lines all!

Matt; My wife and I had a great time in Boothbay Harbor Maine. I have no idea about the fishing, but you may want to google it to find out more about the town. We stayed at the Midtown motel; a short walk to the water. It's a 1950's type of motel with notty pine rooms and tiny tv's. Rustic but clean. We were headed to Bar Harbor, but once we got there it was a tourist trap. We went back to Boothbay and remained there for the rest of our trip. Quaint little town but has enough tourist places to keep you busy. Fishing, whale watching, schooner rides, kayacking, great resturaunts, kept us busy (during the day!!!!!). Best of luck, 5th (Marty)

In southern Maine, you could stay at the Cliff House on the York/Ogunquit line. You can fish the rocks right in front of the hotel, providing your don't mind a little rock climbing and are a bit creative. From there, you can hop on the Bunny Clark in Perkins Cove in Ogunquit. The Bunny Clark is probably the best cod boat in the Northeast.
