Just want to thank everyone who makes the Annapolis event run so smoothly.

I know it is a lot of work but seeing the kids having fun makes it all worth the effort.

What great luck with the weather - rain came close but stayed just far enough away so no one got wet.

As far as I can tell - every child caught a fish - something they'll always remember.

Sailfish,

We are National. Special Anglers participate in public tournaments across the country. There is a clause that explains this on our website for the tournament in question: "The Special Angler Foundation will honor Special Anglers from all states that participate in the six species format for national ranking points. We would like to see additional sponsors back the cash awards for your particular state."

Although only Virginia is offering the cash prizes (paid by VA sponsors), all participants in the US can compete for the National Ranking points. Most of these anglers could care less about the money anyways, what they like is the notoriety of making their way to the Leaderboard and the Special Angler Facebook page. The system provided by Fish Dispatch for our live Leaderboard automatically creates unique "catch viewers" for each of the anglers pics.

One of the ladies that you see on our leaderboard (Sarah Capp) actually made her flounder catch in Ocean City MD. The catches count for national points wherever those fish are caught in the US.

As additional sponsors ante up for the Special Anglers in their states, we will broadcast it via our website and Facebook page.

Our 2015 end of season National Championship is actually planned to be fished in Maryland waters this year. We are looking to go to North Carolina for the 2016 National Championship.

The fact that it came across strictly as "Virginia" is good feedback. We need to fix that. We have also received feedback that we shouldn't limit the tournament to just six catches, but award the angler for the most species catches at the end of the season. We are considering that for 2016.

Thanks for update.

There are Wish a Fish events held in Va. - that is why I thought you posted it.

Sounds like a great way to recognize special needs fishermen.
