It wasn't bad till we got outside PLO of course. Where the washing machine seems to get turn on there at the mouth of the river. Got out in to the bay in a quartering beam sea wasnt to bad then made the turn south and ran with the rollers and wind. Steady 3' and some 4' rollers mixed in at times. Had to stay at 3400 rpms and 20-24mph surfing from one wave top to the next, it was kind of wierd hearing the engines make that louder noise when the bow would dive into the trough of a good roller and the props would get a little closer to the surface. Nice little pucker factor at times if a wave caught us a little off and sent the boat a little sideways when going down into the trough if you can picture that. It smothed out a little be low SPL house until we got just above the Rapp. Made the turn west into the Rapp and once up in there is smoothed out nicely since we were protected from the winds some. Ran up past the bridge and about 10 miles past the bridge we lost the protection from the wind but it was not to bad.
Took just over 3 hours for this trip but I forgot to look at the mileage when we left PLO to see the total mileage. It was funny once we got into the creek that Whelans is off of there was just little ripples on the water compared to out in the channel of the river where it was steady 1' plus chop.
All in all it was a nice trip and we made it there safely which is all I was worried about since the water is just a little chilly out there this time of year. We saw a small center console running from outside Stringray Point when we were coming into the Rapp then a flybridge. Came up on a charter and GW out there fishing about 6-8 miles inside the bridge. Kind of surprised me running up on them two out there fishing was not really expecting to see any life other than the two tug boats out in the bay we saw earlier.
By the way my knuckles did get bloody but not from cracking ice, just having dried out skin.
