Here is my method: Check out this link and find the "Slack Ebb Begins".

Use that time for your set up time. Get set up, drink some coffee.... At exactly 90 minutes to 120 minutes from that time catch your fish. At 180 minutes past that time go somewhere else because the bite is over. Only works for dark or sunrise... well actually I haven't tried it for daylight fishing... I think I'm quiting daytime fishing for striper.

I'm 3 for 3 so far using that method.

In general you want current. BUT.....Drifted eels Thursday current barely moving. The only thing that made us crawl along was the wind. All the +40" fish you could want. Go figure.

A striper is a wild animal. Don't try to make exact statements about the eating habits of such a creature. They are opportunistic feeders. You are much better off guessing what is probable .
