Saw a weather window developing early in the week Hamish, JC, Robert and I decided we would head south to try our luck at jigging. Got a call from "Jet Ski Brian", he had the same idea and we figured we would buddy boat/ski down to Hatteras. Got down there Friday night and made our preps. Watched the water temps at Diamond shoals and thought it was a bit cold for the Blackfins so we headed to the Rockpile and figured we would run north to the 230 rocks after the day warmed up, Wx permitting. The forecast was a bit off and it breezed up considerably sooner that expected and with SW at 20 kts and solid 4 to 5 footers with a 2 foot wind chop we stayed put and played with the AJs. When it was ove we boated at least 50 AJs up to 45 lbs several big Sea Bass, one red Grouper, several sharks one being a four foot Mako and several FAs.

Water temp was 67.2 with the break just west of the Rockplie. Seven to nine ounce jigs, color didn't matter on 65 to 80 lb braid with 60 lb fluorocarbon wind on leaders. Speed jigging through the marks produced the biggest fish.

Great fishing with Jet Ski Brian, East Infection, Old Salt, Ben and Tat Tuna!!!

Insane day on the water!!!

Thanks to JC, Robert, Hamish and "Jet Ski Brian" !!!

Lou,
That was awsome as always! Now all you need is for jetski brian to get a handy cam, and you will have your own fishing show. Camera boat and all.
Nice work!

ps: I"ll look for you next sunday morning on esp2 just after the spanish fly;-)

Looks like you guys had a blast also. Pretty work on the day & the great report. Love the Pics of the Grouper. Also thanks for the Bait. Leon & I will still need more of the small meds on the next order. BTW, I ended up keeping one of the smaller Jacks & had it tonight blackened & to be honest, it was as good if not better than most fresh white meat fish. No worms what so ever! I was supprised. Everyone here loved it & ate all that was on their plates.

Thanks for the invite and trip Lou, a good time was had by all. Good to meet JSB and the crew of Old Salt on the way back. Bill was right on the Almaco jacks being full of worrms, the one I filleted was full of em and became catfood. However, the grouper more than made up for that :)

PlaynHooky The LIttle red fish is a Baby GOGGLE EYE SNAPPER. Some people call them glassy eye snapper. Baby is actually part of it's name; not because it is small. My wife caught one and I caught a GOGGLE EYE(Different fish) which I had Mountain Breeze mount both on drift wood. David was displaying the mount at the boat show after he finished it and a guy informed us that he held the current world record at 12 3/4 inches; my wifes is 13 1/2. We had no idea she just thought it would look nice in our nautical theme in the house. Go figure.
