I use wire ties to attach stainless steel jimmie clips to the bottom of my open top traps. To attach I just slid the c-neck down the clip. Clips cost me $1 and seem like they will last forever.
Does anyone have a better idea on attaching necks to traps.

Thanks, Lig

Hans,

A jimmie clip is basically a large stainless steelsafety pin. It's prong is about 3-4 inches long. I insert the chicken neck right up the bone portion ofthe neck and then clip the pin shut. I wish I had a pictute. I've bought mine at Eastern Marine in Newark and Sarge's in Eklton. They usually cost about $1-$2 a peice.
If anyone has a picture it would be great if you could post it.
If I act like an idiot and run over my own trap or if idiots around me run over a trap it starts getting expensive relacing the clips, but they sure are easy getting the chicken on and off the traps.

Have you tried springs

A buddy of mine turned me onto small SS springs. They are avail at Home Depot or Lowes-and they're 3-4" long and 1/4 in diameter! Fasten one side--stretch under and back inside at it fits real tight (you'll need needle:clap: nose pliers-but the neck stays on until you pull it out!

Thats a jimmie clip. I hace a different, more heavy duty version that looks like a safety pin but that's the idea. They seem to work well for me but I was just wondering if someone had a better mouse trap.
I haven't had good luck with the spings. Either the crab pulls them out (It's always an 8 incher) or the spring has the chicken so tight that it's being pulled through the trap into the mud and sand.
