Just want to say thanks to the jerk who decided to be a lazy bassturd and strip their reel on the way back to Rudee sometime last week.

I went out to get the boat ready yesterday, and there a sizeable oil stain on my stab where I park my boat. I pull the oil fill on the lower unit and there wasn't any in there...BONE DRY. So I pull the prop off and there it is, a nice little bird nest of spectra. there had to have been the better part of 100yds on the shaft. Im hoping its not that bad, and dont think theres much damage just due to the fact that there was still oil on the gear case from when I parked it last weekend. It looked to only be the outter seal...

Tomarrow, I will find out what the damage actually is.

SO DONT BE A LAZY ASS, DISPOSE OF YOUR OLD FISHING LINE PROPERLY. DONT JUST THROW IT OVERBOARD.

Sorry to hear that...I picked up a 200-300ft piece of cargo rope (thick $hit) a couple weeks back. LUCKILY the duoprop was not tangled too bad and I pulled back the throttles quickly and we were able to untangle it. Yes, we were nice enough to take it with us...it took up a large portion of the back of my boat! Talk about pucker factor in near darkness. This was near the high level.

Danny that sucks, I hope your damage is minimal! I would have been dead on my feet If I had gone with you we didnt get back from Manteo untill 1100pm I was beat. We did hook up with 5 fatties off of Currituck Light, though and a doggie.

From what I have been seeing lately with the idiot boat drivers (NOT captains) my guess is that the line you picked-up was from some dumb a$$ cutting across another boat's trolling spread:nono::nono: Which means that dummy screwed up 2 or more boats with one bad move. You can't stay away from the idiots even if you try. I hope they don't drum fish!!!

Yesterday, I had two situations where a boat cut across my trolled wire lines, snagged them and spooled both reel. They may have found that wire neatly wrapped around their props upon getting back to the ramp. Think what that could do to a lower unit! You are right, dumb, and dumber boat drivers. Caused me a loss of almost $100 in equipment.
