Kevin called while I was cobia fishing Thursday. He's passed through Miami and reached the Space Coast. As he predicted, Miami was a zoo. He paddled 16 hours straight to cover 40 miles and get out of the city before the July 4th holiday madness. He described it as Long Creek for miles and miles with boats left and right making wakes the reflected off bulkeheads and knocked his yak around like a ping-pong ball. He made the amazing paddle fueled by Red Bull and Jagermeister. Now he is enjoying Indian River and the Space Coast. He landed a 40 inch snook that dragged him under several docks and a bridge. The space shuttle is schedualed to lauch on Wednesday, so he's taking his time hoping to see her go on her journey. His equipment is still holding up well and he's glad to be rid of the winged scourge that accompanied him through the thick of the Mangroves. Tailwinds and good fishing have him happy, he figures he's nearly halfway through. Only 800 miles to go...one stroke at a time.
