Took my wife and two daughters (4 1/2 and 1 1/2) on first ever fishing trip on our boat. (Actually wife's suggestion to try tonight). Got some subs at Capriotti's and headed to marina - on the boat and out by 6:00, headed north into the Chester.

Tried first two spots nothing - started thinking this whole plan was a bad idea. Moved third time to shallower bar more inside where we usually can bail spot in the summer. Start drifting in 12 foot and it was on. Proceeded to catch 40-50 perch in 90 mins with lots of doubles- most 5-7 inches - couple went over 9". Actually caught 4-5 rockfish in the 10-12 range.

Got out of there around 8:20 as the drizzle moved in.

Sounds like you got two little fishing buddies. Short trip with plenty of action - nothing better with young ones.

remember to take it easy on them...........they will lose interest if you keep them fishing too long......even if you re catching, take a break........a short ride see some sites, birds, nature,.... have a snack / lunch ........ then come back to the old spot where you were and catch some more.............they will not lose interest that way.

Sounds good - thanks for the advice

Will say the ospreys around the narrows are always the highlight of the boat rides - especially more now as the baby ospreys are getting bigger
