i am going down to key west for a 5 day weekend. i was considering doing some chartered fishing maybe offshore, was wondering what kinda of big game fish are in season down there now. if i was to go out what could i expect to catch? sailfish?

Just got back from Big Pine Key where we fished for a week in the gulf and out on the reef. The Black Grouper are spawning right now and the Mutton snapper are in if you want to troll there are a few Dolphin around but we did not do any, the trolling is a lot better were we are i.e. Virginia Beach or Hatteras. The best thing to go for right now will be the Tarpon there are schools of 80 to 150 lb fish in all the cuts it was crazy every night fishing for them lots of fun.

Tarpon are thick at the bridges. April and May we get the biggest dolphin of the year. Action on the reef is hot. Hard to beat late April and May for quality fish in the keys.
