Anyone ever have any luck catching walleye in Lake Gaston? Looking to do some more fishing there this year and trying to add this species to the list. Also, any luck with stripers?

you should concentrate on lake Phillipot ... Its full of Walleye, Gaston is so Vast that finding them could be very difficult, The Spillway below Smith Mountian Lake Into leesville is also another no Brainer,,,
I'm sure as i type the folks are there fishing at this very moment...

The current there is where the Walleye tend to go Spawn and from now till Beggining of March can be Hot... Also the Shad start to run up to the Spillway and the Stripers Follow them so the same place you can catch both , along with some really Nice Yellow perch in the mix... Been there and done that and did pretty Darn good.. No Boat required

BLUEYZWAITN.....are you talking about the area behind the dam where the warning horn goes off and the area behind the rail often gets flooded? I get confused about the dams in that area. When should the shad start to arrive there? If it's the same spot I'm thinking of, I tried fishing it for catfish before and been skunked. It's not far from home, so I guess it's worth another look.

its the causeway right below Smith Mountian lake damn,, Yea when the horn sounds time to gather up your things and move back up till the locks close again,,, that spot is where most guides will go in march -may to catch thier bait... Everything swims around there
right now its walleye time,,, if your not cold you won't catch them
