Just went outside to smoke a ciggy and heard leaves rustling and what sounded like horns banging. Grabbed a flashlight and I was right. Two big bucks were going at it while a smaller on watched. Saw fresh rubs just yesterday also. Crazy!

I saw two fighting along a road in Montgomery County, MD just after New Years. One was twice the size of the other and they both seemed to tolerate each other. They were with a heard of does about 15 strong. The big one would pick a fight even when the smaller one was eating something in the grass field. It didn't last long and looked like a half hearted attempt to fight, maybe he was just playing or something.

Pretty crazy you guys have seen that much action. I'll be bow hunting tomorrow and this weekend for the last shot at it.

I just watched 2 bucks fight out of my office window 2 days ago. They fought for about 5 minutes. This wasn't sparring, they were fighting. When they were done, the loser disappeared and the winner just fed around with several other does for about half an hour. I'd never seen that this late in the winter before.

Wed. night I saw 13 does and 1 buck with them. They were about 50 yards away, out of my bow range. The buck had already dropped 1 antler. I watched him thru the field glasses, could see a red spot on his head where the missing antler was. Thought this was a little early for a missing antler. They never came in bow range either. When do they normally drop antlers?

Outside My Office Window

I have seen bucks chasing does out of a pine thicket the last two weeks while I am trying to conduct conference calls - I can't remember what we were talking about.
