I have a pro 18 bass tracker and want to take my family fishing for flounder, trigger and spade fish. Where is the closest boat landing to get to bridges or tunnel on good days? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Closest Ramp to Bridge/tunnel

I would say Willoughby is closest ramp to bridge tunnel and good for small boats.

It is located at 13 View and Bayville St.

Don't forget

Huntington park at the foot of the James River Bridge on the Newport News side

The public ramp at Peterson's small boat basin in Newport News at the foot of the MRBT

The public ramp under the bridge on the Gloucester side of the RT 17 bridge (Coleman Bridge)

Sunset at the end of Ivy Home Drive in Hampton puts you out in Hampton Creek which is a mile or so from the HRBT.

Fort Monroe ramp is like 100 yards from the HRBT.

It's public. You will have to get a day pass at the gate to get on the base (no charge, but everyone has to have a driver's liscense or other picture id). After that, I think the ramp is $4 for public and only $3 for military. I got the annual pass for $50 so I don't have to go in every time. The only other hassle is that if you go during the week, the parking lot you have to use is a little bit of a walk (1/4 mile or so). On the weekend you can use the one across the street.
