NEW YORK (AP)—Major League Baseball has agreed to push back the start time of a potential World Series Game 6 by eight minutes to allow Democrat Barack Obama to purchase a half-hour of air time on the Fox network.

Baseball spokesman Pat Courtney said Thursday that the game time would now be set for 8:35 p.m.

The Obama presidential campaign said Oct. 9 that it had bought the 8-8:30 p.m slot on CBS and NBC.

“Fox will accommodate Senator Obama’s desire to communicate with voters in this long-form format,” network spokesman Lou D’Ermilio said in a statement. “We are pleased that Major League Baseball has agreed to delay the first pitch of World Series Game 6 for a few minutes in order for Fox to carry his program on Oct. 29. If requested, the network would be willing to make similar time available to Senator McCain’s campaign.”

The World Series has not gone to a sixth game since 2003.
World Series Game Delay - my 2cents.
Thank God for the Weather Channel . . . .
BO's Pompous and Presumptuous speech tonight, thus delaying my beloved World Series, is yet another reason why I will not vote for this empty suited clown.

He doesn’t care. He actually believes that he is more important than the World Series. NOTHING is more important than the World Series. N O T H I N G. period.

Oh I just need a half an hour to get my message out. BS! Can you hear us laughing? Pompus and Presumptuous!
Whoever heard of a politician - any politician - Democrat or Republican - being able to override the World Series (or the Superbowl) with a GD political speech? Can you believe this ****? WTF does this guy think he is? WHAT the hell can he possibly say tonight that is so GD important that he gets to delay the World Series! It's outrageous and totally un-American! Oh What oh What will the messiah tell us tonight? (that we haven't already heard) WHAT could be soooo important to interrupt the World Series? Furthermore WHO Cares?

BLAH BLAH BLAH - shut up Obama! We've all seen the debates. We all heard what ya said (and didn't say, even louder) Too late. Now sit down and shut up.

Welcome to Obama's world - ya gits what's ya votes fer . . .
The World Series - now I've seen everything. Urgh.
Truly a sad day in America that it has come to this.
Pompus and Presumptuous!
Ceeryste. Effin politicians.

Mother - take my dinner away and feed it to the Cat. I have dyspepsia!

Somebody signed a contract and legally must keep it.
That's a terrible shame.

Who watches baseball anyway? On Monday night a regular season football game had twice as many viewers as a World Series baseball game.

I guess I don't get what the big deal is. Fox sold television time to an advertiser. Later they discovered that there is a slight overlap with programming that they paid for. So they asked the company (MLB) to move their starting time 5 minutes to accomodate them. The customer (MLB) was ok with that. Then you people want to blame the advertiser for moving the game. They are the last one to blame in this deal. This is all about running a business. Fox did a good job by getting their customer to move five minutes. It was a win-win for Fox and it didn't hurt (MLB).

To be honest, I agree with all the above. Capitalism is alive and well. It's all about the free market and making money. Anti-socialists should be rejoicing, not beeching.:D
