I am happy to say that I have 2 fish to report for this year's tourney. :D

I am unhappy to say, however, that neither one was mine.

I was lucky enough to get asked aboard "The Master's" boat, and he showed me the way, the truth, and the "First Light".

Here's a shot of what I believe was the larger of his two fish. She was 21 3/4". I'll let John tell the rest. Afterall, that's what he does.

Thanks again JP, it was a great time. Looking forward to doing it again.

Greg, First Light & I were honored & delighted to have you aboard. Thanks for the photo of that fish. My phone's picture is pretty weak.

Sorry I couldn't find you something larger to eat that beautiful Electric Chicken Clouser. Will look forward to our next time out there together.

BTW, Mark, where is the leaderboard? Can you take Greg's photo as my evidence? I have a halfway decent phone photo of the other fish's tail on the Hawg Trough. It was 20.25". Will submit it tomorrow.

Best, JPW

I can vouch for him Rod. We would have had better photos, but where JP took me it was so cold, my camera was frozen up.; the shutter was'nt even clicking.

I had to order mine online. If you're shopping for a ruler today, make sure it has markings down to the 1/4" to get the maximum measurement from your pickerel. In a pinch, the ol' Stanley 25 footer works just fine.

Thanks - good suggestions.
I did run by anglers - they only had a hefty aluminum job with only one inch marks - painted on! I think they would wear off.
Also it was 35$. Pass

I want plastic for in the kayak.
Also want engraved or raised marks (down to 1/4 inch) that won't rub off.
I had thought about home made - but figured with this crowd I'd have to get it certified.......
Actually, I wasn't as inventive as john.

Maybe paying shipping from Cabelas.
The trusty DNR ruler in the meantime - but the numbers don't show well in photos.
