All,

I've spun up a Live Leaderboard for the Coles Point Riverfest Rockfish Contest for this coming Saturday, April 30th. There is no registration fee, so if you are up in that area fishing, you may want to cash in on the prizes. The links to the official contest information are on the leaderboard.

I've classified this post as a "Fishing Report" because some of those pics on the leaderboard now (from Sea Era) are recent pics from his outing last Saturday.

Check out the tricky little rule they are using "girth" as a tie breaker. Petey and company thought they might out wit the Live Leaderboard, but they have been foiled .... the system handled it like a charm, and uses "weigh in time" as the 2nd tie breaker.

Here is a snap of my test cases from the leaderboard.

All,

See the final results from today on the leaderboard. The anglers knocked it out of the park with some great catches. Thanks to all who sent pictures straight to the Leaderboard system while out on the water. The top prize was taken by April Jones aboard the Bonnie Lynn.

I'm very proud to report that the co-captain team of the "John Russell", Russ Sullivan and Bernice Burroughs, took third. This team has been taking out our Special Angler teams over the last few years, and it was with great joy to see these two show up with early catches that nearly held on to 2nd most of the afternoon.

We had the WebCam running live too. Not sure if anyone was watching, but we had it running for folks to see the teams coming in for weigh in on the leaderboard.

Our sincere thanks to have been invited down by Coles Point to participate with Petey on this. It was a great privilege. We're hoping to participate in a bigger event with them in the future.

Joe (and all other East Coasters who use the FD Live Leaderboard system),

Take this with a little grain of salt ... and to all others, don't take offense at our poking at Joe ... he can handle it and will understand our humor on this.

How is it that you all were surprised that the system could handle "girth"??? Just look at page 16 of the User's Manual. All the "cubicle weenies" out here were just holding their tongues. We were hoping you would have sung the praises of those bright west coast wunderkids who thought about the possibility that some tournament would require a "girth" measurement. How could you all miss this on your Manage Weigh In Page of the portal??? The team has been murmuring about it all this past week. We constantly heard them walking the halls of our cubicle spaces murmuring "girrrrrrrrrrth". It has been pretty amusing.

Our in house psychologist has had to intervene with the tech guys and explain these cultural differences about the superior laid back approach of the west coast and those on the east coast who can't make time to open up their users' manuals (generically speaking).

We've also included a screen snap from the portal of your Coles Point event that shows how the tech guys tried to make the girth entry intuitive for you. The folks on the forum can be our judge on this. We thought it was pretty clear, but we welcome feedback with the goal of always improving and making the system more user friendly.

Anyways, we're glad the Coles Point event turned out well for you guys. Looks like a lot of fun ... and in this one instance, we are a little envious of your east coast "Rockfish". We hope you all take some time this week to smell the roses and read the FD Portal User's Manual.

FD Social Team

P.S. we don't really have an in house psychologist.
