I stumbled on this the other day...the boss has given me a prelimiary nod.

This has I/O's but I don;t recall if it had an engine box. Most of the pics online don't show that area on the boats with i/o's....only inboards.

Anyway I beleive from reading up on these in the past that they are built like brick "S" houses and cruise at 17ish and top at 24ish.

I'd love to hear some consumption figures if anyone has some.

thanks

It looks to be much older then a 97....I have a 85 for sale that has newer motors (200 hrs), new enclosure, riggers, tower, fish boxes, full electronics, ect....on a 2004 triple axel trailer with full rollers....needs u joint repair on stbd drive....first 17,500 takes it. Boat in Ocean City, MD....These boats are built solid and handle great. I run at 22-24 hnts and top out about 29-30 or so...they are great boats and a great ride under 30'

I assume that's gas motors ? Those are pretty good speeds. It's a 27. But I do need to confirm the year.

Personally, I'd look straight inboard. I have an outdrive on my 24 Alby and would not want two. The performance is great and I like the way it handles but it takes extra mtce and you had better stay on top of it!!

Anyway, I would think your cruise with gad motors and outdrives would be more like 23-24 knots...probably 1nmpg or a bit better.

Good luck with your search

Well, boats are a pain...my friends with inboards and outboards all have issues...I'd say the biggest "pain" with an outdrive "for me" is keeping it painted and free of growth.

Anyway, I still think straight inboard would be a better bet.

Steve.....mine are gas (350's)...speeds are by GPS so I think they are right..That boat you are looking at looks to be more like a 1990 or earlier to me, but could still be in great shape...I have fished mine pretty steady since 04 and love the layout and the way it rides. Good luck with what ever you get and happy hooking:thumbup:

I'm not really "looking" and I wish my budget would let me go up to that figure. But our family boat is way to small for what I want to be doing while crossing over into family fun and keeping my Independence from my father's rides to get offshore.

I've listed our boat on craigslist once and I'm ready to "unload" it to make way for this or any other deal that comes up if this one doesn't.

This boat I just stumbled on. Given the condition I it's not in perfect condition but definitely something I can easily get there and really fullfills a lot of needs.

thanks for all of the info.

Steve,
That Diesel that Mackey posted on yachtworld is my boat!! I'm obviously willing to go WAY below that yachtworld price. Call me, not the broker. We just want to unload the boat as my lady wants a bigger convertable boat with a "nice salon." Whatever, as long as it has a cockpit I'm happy!!!!!

Well I made a much more detailed review (with sun light too) today. It's an '89. The year mess up was my confusion but I went in figuring something was up. as everyone mentioned it looked older...even when I made the comparisons from '97's to '88's there were some differences that stood out. The boat I looked at today had a good size engine box..hence...no jack shafts. I grew up with an engine box twin IO boat as a kid and it's one thing I hope to never have as an adult. Other than that there were also some major Bobby Boat Owner-isms on this. A rebuilt cabin door...rough berths...hand paint decks.

Over the years the boss has tempered me into a no-or-a-very-minimal fixer upper mode boat acceptance.
