I have replaced my kicker motor, and no longer have a need for my old kicker (15HP Evinrude ~1978). It is in rough shape (received this way), and could use some TLC. With the alternative of dumping it in the landfill, I would rather try to find someone who could use and/or recycle at least part of this motor.
I have attached pictures below of the motor. It has two primary defects. The first are obvious - the lower housing has several large corroded areas, where the corrosion has caused the outer metal to rupture. Most of these areas are covered in JB weld, which was more cosmetic than anything. The other defect is less obvious, but the linkage where the the throttle folds has too much play in it - as a result you may be trying to increase the motor speed, but nothing happens - same too when decreasing speed. (If you push in, it works okay).
Despite the defects, the engine itself appears to have very little wear, and has started and run reliably the last two years that I've owned it. It was last run on December 26th (trolling for stripers), and I flushed and fogged the motor on December 28th. It would appear that at least the engine still has some life left in it.
I am just looking for a good home - not looking for anything monetarily. I live in Virginia, but hope to make it to the Baltimore Boat Show on Saturday afternoon, so would be more than willing to make a connection early afternoon at the boat show. Otherwise it could be picked up at my house in Waynesboro, Virginia.
The board members have been very unselfish in their sharing of information, so that's why I'm posting this here. Hopefully repaying a little bit of the value that I've got from the Tidalfish community.
Since this is a giveaway and intended to help the environment, I'm hoping it is okay to post here. If by some stroke of luck you can greatly benefit from this opportunity, consider giving a little back to Wish-a-Fish, (or some other charity).
If you're interested, send me a PM and I'll get back to you. thanks
