Recently took ownership of a new to me boat powered by a 1997 200 horsepower Yamaha Saltwater Series II motor. I have had the boat a little more than 3 months now and have shaken most of the bugs out of the boat that were caused by irrepair.

Last trip with trip with the boat, when I hooked my trailer to the truck and raised the motor I noticed that the motor seemed to hang in one position of the trim range. Closer inspection has revealed trim fluid leaking from around the shaft of the trim pump.

My question is this, are trim pumps repairable or is this a replacement part situation? I have noticed that trim pumps for this motor can be costly and was hoping that the pump can be rebuilt rather than replaced. Any advice is appreciated.

check fluid level first level off and no big deal on a very small leak. and yes, you can repair the hydraulic pumps with new seals. need a spanner wrench to get the cups off, they may be in the kits.
