Yes sir; yesterday morning sat down and cut up the potatoes, onion and celery. Fried 1/2 lb of bacon; crispy and broke it up, adding 3 table spoon of bacon grease to the veg's with a cup of water. Salt and pepper. Put over low, low heat till about 1/2 cooked then added two cans of baby whole clams. Let it slow boil for nearly an hour then added two bottles of claim juice. Served and added bacon sprinkled on chowder just before eating. Next to come is Shepherd's Pie.

Andypat, being from the foot hills of Penna. I grew up eating shepherd's pie in the 50's. In a nut shell it is a pie made with ground beef and veg's as the filling and mashed potatoes as the topping. Here is how to make it as my Mother made it back then. http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/easy_shepherds_pie/ Never tried it but would guess you could use ground deer meat, ground duck breast or ground goose breast meat in place of ground beef and it should still be very good.
