Well we left Rudee Inlet,Va. at 3:00am on March 15 and rolled in to the fuel dock at Oregon Inlet at 10:00am,......fueled up,...said hello....then said Good Bye ...and off we went to Hatteras...rolled in to Hatteras about 1:45 pm.....burned out, wore out, frapped out.....as my good buddy Jim Gearing says
quote..unquote...."Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body,...but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate bar in one hand and a martini in the other,...body thoroughly used up ,totally worn out and screaming"Yeee Haaa that was one helluva ride"
March 10 was day 69 in the year 2007 and we were in the Ocean 63 of those days:clap: :clapping2:  :clapping2:
Truly enjoyed fishing with the Bay guys....We'll be back Dec.1 2007...count on it.
Here's the top ten fish we caught this winter ,....some were released and some were not.
All were caught jigging light tackle

Your buddy Jim Gearing is quite the philosopher! I just happen to agree with his outlook on life 100%...... as can be attested to by the breaks, bruises, bullett holes, etc. that I'm toting. Thell him that this old guy here likes his philosophy!!! Welcome home!

Great fish and pictures. That wave looks scary.

The only problem with the chocolate and martini thing is that you reach the grave about 10 years earlier than everybody else!

rlee48,
That wave was on the outertip of Diamond Shoals at Cape Hatteras with it blowing S/W a steady 25 knots gusting to 30 knots plus..and the 25 to 35 pounders were chewing like Pirahnas. Here's another shot from the same day

Ross,
I'll catch ya next year

Rick,
Looks like it took you about 3 hours to get from OI to Hatteras?
Do you run the Pamlico channels, or do you run the outside?

Reason I ask, I vacation near OI every August and have thought about running my 24 footer down to Ocracoke, looks like you can shave some miles off the road trip if you run a straight line. I need to get the appropriate chart/s of the area, not sure if the channels will cooperate with that plan.

Do you have any suggestions or words of caution?

Rodger
