We took our first bottom fishing customers out on Saturday to see what was happening. Had a good feeling with what the surface water temps were starting to look like. Our crew showed up late so we didn't leave the dock until 7:15. Headed out into the Rapp and our first spot was east of the Norris bridge in 29 feet of water. Squid was the best bait on the outgoing tide when the guys had a steady pick of small to medium sized croaker with the mediums hitting the ice and the small going back overboard. When the tide slacked off we started catching some spot on bloodworm. When the tide turned and started in we went to the bridge to see if any rockfish were around. The first piling gave us a couple pulls but the guys couldn't get the hang of live baiting. Went to the next and we got a 17 real quick and a 25 that we were able to keep. Unfortunately there were to many hook pulls and we went through our spot quick. While a few guys were live lining the other few had a nice croaker bite pulling up doubles for a couple of hours before we went back to the dock. Total count for the day was close to 300 croaker, 6 spot, a nice big sea mullet, 2 rockfish, 10 missed hookups and an oyster toad. Really gets you going when they reel up a bait and you see fish up to 30" chasing them to the back of the boat! Sunday the family stayed on the boat with me. My wife and oldest daughter caught a bunch of small croakers off the bow of the boat at the marina. Lots of fish out there to be caught right now. Get out there and have some fun!

Good catching report. Thanks for posting up. Good job putting your crew on some fish. Looks like they were enjoying themselves.

Thanks for the report! Caught some mid size croaker Saturday in the mouth of Meachim Creek behind the island. Really picked up the last hour of incoming tide. Some young kids just down from us got a small 12" striper along with some Croaker.
