Was looking for the collective knowledge and wisdom of our Board....

I have a mercury 225 EFI OB, 8 years old, and the throttle tends to stay open once I am above 3000 rpm. It is NOT the cables, as the linkage works fine. It seems to be inside the engine?

Usually I can turn it off with the key, put it in neutral, and it gets back to neutral. Last week, it did not, and I had to get towed in... When I went back later to check it and play with the linkage, I started it up and it was back in neutral. It was happening last year, then it stopped, and just two weeks ago started again.

Any ideas?

I'm going to post on the maintenance board as well...

Thanks for all your suggestions![smile]

The throttle plates on the intake are probably dirty/corroded and sticking. They can hang open and the throttle control linkage will work fine. Bmail for more info. Mark
