Yes there is a memory chip in the motor that contains data like total hrs, highest rpm's,highest operating temp, etc, your merc dealer can read the chip.
Actually they can only read the hours if the dealer has the new cds software. There isn't a port to connect the old ddt. Basically now trouble shooting the 225 four stroke consist of hooking up a light to the test port and counting the flashes. If your local merc dealer doesn't have CDS call a yamaha dealer.
