If you are bowhunting deer it is not too bad. Opening day of shotgun is very crowded and in my opinion dangerous. I think if you were in a plane looking down you would think you are in a pumpkin patch......I only hunt rabbits there............Gary
McKee Beshers is down right dangerous in gun season. :eek2: If you do go to any Montgomery county public land, Be in your stand well before sunrise and don't move till mid day. The year I went to MB, I crawled back to my vehicle mid day in fear of being shot. I will never hunt Montgomery county public land again without a tree stand, after being shot at by some yahoo in Pateuxant SP.
I recommend in participating in one of the management hunts in the county, it is safer and your success rate is higher. You do have to qualify in a shoot, and hunter limits to the areas apply. Maryland Shooter Qualification Sessions Calendar - 2008: Guide to Hunting & Trapping in Maryland 2008-2009
I have hunted McKee for 15 or so years now. Yes shotgun season I would never hunt from the ground . Groups of 15 20 people doing drives I let them push the deer right to me Me and my buddy always get a few.
