E-Tec's have generally been outstanding. I have T 175's on my boat for three seasons with zero issues, good fuel economy, low noise, zero smoke, start instantly. low oil consumption, very low maintenance, etc. etc. You get the picture. The 175 shares a common block with the small block V6's (150-175-200HP).

If you want more answers you may want to go to thehulltruth.com and go a serch on the subject and there should be plenty of reading. The only problem with that site is you will get that chevy v/s ford type of people with outboards but focus on the actual owners.

Not sure what the wight is on the e-tech.

But I know the Suzuki DF175(4-stroke) is lighter than the two stroke engines that it replaced in their motor line-up.

Also this engine has been out performing the 200 Suzuki due to its great power to weight ration.

Just thought it might be a option for you to look at.

Good luck on your repower!!
