Anyone have a new one with the accu-trigger. If so, do you find it worth while or is it more gimmick than anything? Anyone with one have issues finding a scope that fits over the receiver? Thanks,

I don't have any experience with the Accu-Trigger but I would like to personally thank Savage. If you have noticed since they came out with it almost every other manufacturer has improved their trigger systems. Thanks Savage!!!!

Do a search on google or wherever for accu trigger reviews. Or Savage trigger reviews

I have heard nothing but rave reviews about the new triggers.

The one thing with a Savage gun, they are a working man's gun. They're not refined, pretty or cosmetically perfect, but what they are is deadly accurate and affordable. The accu-trigger was the icing on the cake.

I own 2 Savage's a .270 (20 years old) and a .17HMR 2-3 years, before the accu trigger. Wish I had waited a year on the .17 the next year they put the accu trigger on it.

Thanks guys, I had read exactly what what you all have said. Being in school (but seeing the light at the end of the tunnel), I don't have the time or money to get a higher end gun and drop it with a gun smith. I'm thinking the savage will work great for me now, out of the box and then, if I decide to move up, I'll have a good gun to pass down.

The reason I asked is that a lot of the guys at the big outdoor stores seem to want to push other guns even though Savage has a pretty good rep (including the issue with finding a scope). All your responses are icing on the cake.

If anyone want to suggest a good local store (I'm located in Bowie), I'm open to suggestions. I know Bass-pro and Cabelas sells them, but for firearms and bows, I prefer smaller shops where sales are done on a first name basis.

Thanks again,
bob

If you are up for a drive Dan at Gun Connection on rt.40 near Bel-Air is top notch. He'll set up your rifle for and take the time to explain any questions you might have.

The others are pretty, made well, and not taking anything away from them or their quality but when you can pay $400 for 1 1/2" groups or better out of the box, with factory ammo, why would anyone ever want to spend $800 for the same results. Why, to say "oooooh" look what I have. No offense to anyone who likes the $$$ stuff.

I bought my first Savage a Model 110 .270 20 years ago at 20 years old when I was working at a sub shop delivering food and making about $7.00/ hr and I wasn't living with Mom and Dad. Paid $276.

I chose that gun for 2 reasons, cheap and damn accurate. Bought it based on a review done by Outdoor Life for the new Buckbusters (as they called them) and the only gun in their review that shot better was a $1200 custom Tar Hunt. The difference???? cosmetics and 1/4" at 100 yards.

One word of advice, take the money you save by going Savage and invest it in a good scope. If you can't see at dawn and dusk, it doesn't matter what the trigger is like.

Hunted this past season with my new Savage 111 7mm rem mag- loved it! Got 4 deer with it 180-210 yds.All dropped on the spot. Was even using the reduced recoil loads after experimenting with them when i sighted in the gun. 210 yds was as far as i'd be able to shoot so didn't need the extra kick! I got the combo at Dick's for $350 on sale( included scope).Synthetic stock, blued barrel, 3 x 9 scope, nothing fancy but shoots very nice! Pretty close on the factory bore sight too, tweeked a little and right on! Gun doesn't have the accu-trigger though.
