Here are a couple pictures of the new Chesapeake Series Baitcasting rod designed and built to my specifications by Bill O'Brien of Shore Tackle and Custom Rods in Grasonville, MD.
The rod is built on a 7’ green Matrix graphite fast action/medium power (10-17 lb line, ¼ - 1oz lure) blank. The rod is spiral wrapped with titanium guides and has an adjustable weight butt cap. The reel is the Shimano Curado 201E7 loaded with 20lb PowerPro.
The pictures really don't do justice to the rod. I need to get Kevin "Flatliner" to take the pictures next time.

"The Green Hornet" Strikes

We finally had a chance to test some of the new rods that Billy O'Brien and his team at Shore Tackle and Custom Rods in Grasonville, MD have been working on during the winter months. Here are some pictures of the spiral wrapped "GH" in action. Several nice fish were caught using this rod earlier in the week. In some respects, the baitcasting set-up applied in this type of LTJ may offer advantages over the traditional spinning rod approach. One of the most obvious to the user is the control the rod and reel gives one when fighting large fish on relatively light tackle. There are others, but I'll let those with more experience using this set-up comment.

I also had a chance to use a newly finished pair ("Blue Max" series) of rods built on the new St. Croix SCIV Inshore Saltwater blanks. I'll post pictures of the baitcasting and spinning rods separately. A really nice fish was caught on the spinning rod and was featured in a video shot and posted by Shawn Kimbro entitled; "Chasing Gannets South of the Bay Bridge."
Check out Shawn's website for excellent light tackle techniques:

Mark, Great job it looks like the setup handled the large fish well. I am glad you like the rods even if you name them they will perform well for years to come.:clapping2:
