Fished this afternoon with Dr. Ike, Kyle, and Wes, oceanside of Fisherman's island with eels. Had 4 runs in the first hour boating 3 fish. Kyle gets a 47 lb, Ike gets a 43 lb, and Wes gets a 25 lb. Another big fish pulled the hook. Then nothing but an occasional dogfish after that. Tried staying past sunset for a while but nothing. Couldn't come back to the HR because we decided to keep them.

Pretty good few hours of fishing and nice way to start off 2009 with 2 weight citations for Kyle and Ike. So maybe Kyle is the state leader....for 2009...just for today....maybe. :D

That's Ike behind the mask...it was cold....with his 43 lb striper.

Here is Kyle with his 47 lb striper.

Best New Year's Day Ever!

Mike,
Thanks for taking us out and helping me get that first paper of the year. :bigfish: I had a great time. Sorry you and Wes didn't get any papers. Those Boca Grips usually are an under estimation of the weight so I'm confident that it's a paper. I'll post what the real weights of the fish are tomorrow when Kyle and I get them weighed in at OE2 in the morning. This was the best way to ring in the new year for me. Doing what I enjoy the most, fishing with friends. The weather turned out just like predicted and we didn't get beat up. Just real cold but your boat kept us warm. Thanks again.

Mike,

Thanks again for the trip and putting Ike and I on our 1st papers for the year. I cant think of a better way to spend New Years Day than fishing. Hopefully 09 will bring more of the same for all of us. One of us will post the official weight once OE2 opens.

Mike - nice slob stripers! A good days work.

Hey, what brand of rod outriggers do you have? They look the ones from Bluewater Designs.

Catch
Catch, I believe they are bluewater but I peeled off the sticker years ago and not 100% positive. Got them at boatersworld. I need more, more with multiple rod holders, and I need more flush mounted rod holders for boat. One can never have too many places to put rods (so people are not tempted to scratch your deck with rod butts.).
