Am getting "no signal" message on gps unit. Self test at start up indicates all o.k....suspect receiver/antenna problem..Have tried shutting off unit and turning on again several times.............no help. Have heard that can re boot antenna/receiver by unplugging/replugging the antenna cable from unit . Any help before I call for house call repair?.........Thanks....rolf

I had the same thing on my Northstar last year when the updates came out and thought that would fix it.Not,turns out it was a faulty cable.Luckily I had an honest guy that just replaced the cable and didnt hit me for a few hundred dollar antenna

If you have a volt meter - test the antenna output.Take the antenna cable off the unit and use the probe to test the unit.It should be around 5-6 volts. The NorthStar units are almost bullet proof. Most trouble is either a frayed cable or a bad antenna.Never hurts to remove/clean/replace the cable.Sometimes corrosion will build up and it does not take much to lose the signal.

We just had to have both ours pulled from our big boat . Every trip off shore this year they would loose position:confused: Called the dealer who installed them & he said that's the 4th time this year same thing. So he sent them back . Have not heard anything in a few weeks

There was a software update to these units earlier in the year for a similar sounding problem. I'd check and see if you're current on that first.
