How long do you guys think the USCG will continue to transmit loran? Be my luck I'd buy a loran unit, then the switch be turned off.

I paid $250.00 for mine 3 years ago with the coupler and had to buy an antena.

Mike, they are going to keep Loran for the forseeable future. In fact, there is now a new version, I forget what the terminology is, but I think it is digital. Sitex is making a combo GPS/ new Loran unit that is supposed to be extremely accurate and repeatable, again I can't give you the model number, but I'm sure you can find it. It uses both GPS and Loran signals to give you your position.
