Took the plunge and hopefully taking advantage of depressed prices and am buying a condo 123rd St. in O.C.
Primarily fish the Bay and it's tribs and have flounder fished a number of times at O.C. but only with rented boats. Would like to use one of my boats now that I have a place to stay. Have a couple of questions-
Is there flounder fishing to be had this far up? Rt. 90 bridge area any good? What about other species? Most of my experience has been behind Assateague and Rt 50 bridge area. Any ramps that far up? How about clamming up that way?
What about surf fishing up that end? Have surf fished a couple of time at Assateague, but that's it. What time of year and what's available.

Thanks in advance.

The surf fishing is better off Assateague due to it being natural beach. The beach off OC gets pumped and it is more of a shallow slope then a true beach.Fish can be caught - look for holes or breaks. The surf changes every storm so do not get set on one spot.

Flounder are caught by the 90 th street bridge - just be very careful - the channel is not very wide or deep.easy to run or even drift aground.Croaker are often caught right at the bridge pilings. Some small Blues come up that far as well.

The inlet area or even off shore a few miles is better.

Never clammed up that far - I like the sandbar in front of Bahia marine.Always people clamming there but it keeps producing clams.

Stop in Oyster Bay baitshop. They can fill you in plus help you find a ramp.

Boat Ramp : 87th Street (Bering Road) Bayside, Ocean City
The parking of boat trailers is prohibited in the Little Salisbury area of Ocean City (87th St., Bering Road). Trailer parking is available at the 100th St. Municipal Parking Lot for a fee.

Invest in a chart from Ake or Oysterbay tackle and DO NOT venture out of the channel until you learn the lay of the land. Some areas can be very unforgiving. I have caught good flounder well above the 90 bridge and that area is pretty good for crabbing as well. I have never tried clamming up that far, but would figure they should be there on the mud flats....have fun and be careful. BTW...if you know anyone else looking for a condo, I have one for sale on 23 rd st and the bay...it has a boat ramp, pier, and bulkhead----1 br / 1 ba---125,000

We had a condo on 124th Ocean side for about 10 years. I'm going to spot burn by giving specifics but there is some very good surf fishing in that area if you know when and where to look.

For consistant action head up to IRI. Distance wise a little further than the OC inlet but much less crowded, better access and the fishing is better. If your hard core buy yourself a pair of Korkers and have at it.

I have caught flounder, croakers, spot, perch, sea robin, blowfish, trout, bluefish, toadfish, rock fish, crabs and clams all around the Rt 90 bridge. I stay on 144 st. The surf fishing is not very good there....sand sharks and skate. I put in on Rt 54 a few miles down from Ocean highway.........Gary

We have a place on 103 and surf fish with the kids after the lifeguards vacate. You'll catch rays, sharks, blues and very occasional rock. The kids will love it. Oyster Bay has a good website and they are very good to deal with. Get there early for fresh bait (cut bunker is my favorite and catches all). Ake and Harbor Tackle in West OC are great and very helpful. Ramps between Ake and Harborside are nice and in OC on 87th as mentioned.

If you surf fish a lot get a pass for either Assateague or Fenwick and have at it. Assateague has a better drop off and you'll get a shot at bigger fish. Indian River or the Rt 50 bridge at night for rock. Plenty of guys at each spot in the summer will help you get acclimated. As mentioned flounder around Rt 90 bridge, around rt 50 bridge, behind Assateague, triggerfish in the rocks at the inlet, rock in the inlet and tog at the end of the south jetty and wrecks offshore.

We get down at least one week per month in the summer and I fish the Rt 50 bridge after the kids go to sleep. If you'd like to join up give me a shout.
