I went out of Buzz's at sun up and headed south. Poked into the river over to # 5, nothing doing. Down south to # 66, nothing. Weaved back up the bay with the afternoon flood and picked up a fish just south of #72 around 3:30. It is either the biggest little fish, or the littlest big fish you can catch. It measures just under or just over 28 inches, depending on the angle from which you view the ruler. But it weighs 10+ pounds! It bit in a hundred feet of water. I caught it on the WFB on a lure that I usually hide when I come back to the marina, not because it is a secret, but because it is embarassing....a little four-bladed chrome umbrella ahead of a daisy chain made out of some ballyhoo skirts and a bucktail dressed with a nine inch shad that I colored with a red magic marker. Its hideous, but some days its the only thing that will catch a fish. Like today.
So that's fishing for 2008....now I got a long list of maintenance items, starting with removal of my bracket which needs stripping and powder coating. Anybody know where to get that done?
And while I'm asking questions...what was with the weather guys today? It was flat calm all day, but NOAA kept claiming that there was a small craft advisory going into effect. Was I in the other Chesapeake Bay?
