Online Community Manager

Job Specifications:
The Online Community Manager will implement the Trout Unlimited Online Community Strategy, managing engagement and interactivity with TU's audience and fostering community spirit through various online social mediums.

This role reports to the Director of Online Operations and coordinates daily activities with various marketing and communication staff to support their respective goals and to ensure consistency in voice while cultivating a strong community around TU's brand.
Responsibilities

Implement the online community strategy, coordinating with stakeholders across the organization to ensure its effectiveness while providing superior quality of service and support to our community with the help of various online communication tools.
Work with the online operations team to ensure that the community platforms (e.g. forums, blogs, moderation tools, etc.) are kept up-to-date and functional. Also, influence the organization's communication roadmap by collaborating with various industry stakeholders.
Generate compelling editorial content and manage a schedule of website content and competitions for the various online communities to engage with.
Moderate all user-generated content according to the moderation policy.
Act as an advocate of the Trout Unlimited brand across all online communities, engaging in dialogues and answering questions when appropriate.
Manage grassroots volunteer content and conduct trainings to build an active online social media network.
Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the growth of the community, and analyze, review, and report on the effectiveness of new initiatives.
Regularly report insights gained from community monitoring into the Marketing and Communications teams, helping evolve their strategies.
Monitor trends in online community tools and applications and be a technology leader in the organization.
A successful candidate will be creative, diplomatic, cool under pressure and have great interpersonal skills. All candidates must demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and understanding of online community platforms, their respective participants and how they can be leveraged to meet TU's online engagement goals.

A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
A vast knowledge of the fly-fishing industry and a passion for conservation.
The ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships throughout fly fishing and conservation communities.
Be a team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide other departments when necessary.
To perform the basic duties of this job, you must have a good technical understanding of social media and be able to pick up new tools easily. You must demonstrate a proven ability to efficiently edit photos and videos for online use. You must also have a working knowledge of HTML and CSS best practices, as well as a demonstrated ability to administer Drupal and Wordpress content management systems.

Most importantly, you must have a deep knowledge and understanding of Trout Unlimited's mission and the ability to relate it through various online mediums.
