Brian, it is 5 degrees in North East this morning.

As far the water freezing over, we almost always have a week or two of ice fishing here on the Northeast River every year. Mike is gearing up to go soon. Probably after work this afternoon or tomorrow for sure.

He has been looking for an ice tester. Do you know any volunteers?

The irony is that his attic is too well insulated. If the house's heat leaked into the attic, it wouldn't have happened. Make sure your pipes are between the house and the attic insulation.

It was -2F here in the mountains near Emmitsburg, N Frederick CO, MD. I was expecting lower but glad it wasn't. The woodstove is gobbling up wood like wood grew on trees and the house is still way chillier than I would like. The mountain creeks are freezing with significant anchor ice forming with sizable ice dams here and there with big pooling going on.

Jim and George - no apparent damage to laptop. Just s-l-o-w until it thawed out.. George, battery was fully charged last night. Would not power up, so I used my cigarette lighter adapter. so battery was frozen, screen a little fuzzy, until my truck warmed up.
