Just sharing some trials and tribulations with my TF Breath en....

My land lord at my business, asked me months and months ago, to "try" to recycle plastics, beer bottles, etc... I explained that I don't practice it at home, but I will make an effort to do so at work. He supplied me with the blue bin, and every two weeks or so empties it for me. Honestly, its all beer bottles and Pepsi cans, but I actually have a " good feeling" when I participate.

So it's " grown" on me, and now when I drink at home, I save the six pack carton, and instead of " tossing the empties" I put them neatly back in their holder. So far so good.

Well yesterday, I tossed back a few, and a few more and then a few more..... Okay I had 12...

This morning, at 0400, I put the two empty six packs in my front seat, drove down to 7/11 for my coffee, as I do everyday... Headed up my store.... Well......

Before I can open my coffee and lit up my smoke, I have blue and red lights in my rear view..

Good Monday Morning...

Pull over no big deal, officer, as kind as could be, Asks if I'm aware I have a brake light out. I say no sir.. No idea.. Then he goes through the ritual, which I'm cool with... Then he see's the two empty six packs in my front passenger seat.... OPPPPPPPSSSSS...

And As I just explained above, I explained to him... I get " the look", the cop nose inching closer into my truck, the flashlight search...

License and Reg comes back clear, Officer suggests putting empties Quote: "In the back, out of my reach" and I'll be good if I ever get pulled over again..

So I got a work order for my brake light, a lesson learned, and a cold cup of coffee....

Pucker Factor: About a 6 ( out of 10)

Someone once told me... I think it may have been a cop... He said that they get quite a few DUI's from guys driving in to work the morning after partying down. Apparently folks who drink alot keep the stuff in their system well into the following morning. You may be luckier than you think! He may have been able to bust you for a DUI to boot. Look at the bright side. He's doing a good job that few people would want to do and he cut you a break by being a decent dude.

Maryland's open container law merely involves a $25 fine. No big deal, but probably won't look good on your record if you get a subsequent DUI.

I found out the hard way that DE doesn't have an open container law (neither does VA). After being made a spectacle of in downtown Bethany on a Friday night with the full complement of "walk the line" and backward alphabet tests to a growing crowd, I blew 0.03, was told to toss an empty bottle in a nearby dumpster, and was sent on my way without any paper.

Pucker factor: 8

Turns out that DE's state legislature gave up some minor Federal highway money so folks can have a beer on the way to the softball game.

It takes one hour for one standard drink to be processed and eliminated. No amount of physical exercise will speed up the process, only time. However, if your liver is not functioning normally it will take longer for this process to occur.

I think the open container law is the result of overzealous lawmakers.
If I want to have a beer on my way home from work why is that a danger to anyone?
Probably not a good idea, but hey…one beer?

If you get stopped you are either drunk or you are not drunk and the number of open containers in your car should be of no concern to the police, especially if its obviously a trash bag full of empty cans.

It doesn’t take much to be drunk in Maryland. If you are under that limit I don’t believe you are any danger to anyone.

The bad thing is that it is probable cause to initiate a sobriety check... based on when you drank that, you couldve been in a world of hassle. Glad that it worked out for you though Brian.

Tim, I was never in fear of a DUI. 12 Beers all day on a Sunday, is child's play. So 6 hours later, I'm beyond good.
Just that look in his eye, when he saw the empty 12 pack.... And at 4 in the morning, all adds to the pucker factor...
I'll continue to take my empties to work, they'll just be in the back of the truck, from now on..

Be careful. Some of the states have started enforcing some pretty tough open container laws. Maryland is fine. However, Florida has started imposing some pretty stiff penalties for open contains near the driver. Apparently a couple of years ago someone got into a horrific accident because they were trying to retrieve an open container that had fallen out of the cupholder.

It's,Occifer,I was taking these to the cecyle renter.

But on a serious note,I know two people who had been pulled
at check points, arrested for DUI and when they blew at the police
station,the result was zero.
When that came up in court, the judge asked the Occifer if he had
smelled alcohol at the time of the stop.
Occifer says yes,judge says gulity.
