I used a Garmin Nuvi in a rental car last week... it was really nice, and on the mark with directions. I think I saw an ad this week for like $145 or so for that unit...

I have had a Garmin Street pilot and a Garmin Nuvi. I am very pleased with the Garmin products, reasonably priced and reliable. It may be that I am just used to them, but I like their graphics better than other models I have looked at. I don't use too many of the extra features available, I usually just punch in an adress and go. I do occasionally search for a restaraunt or gas station when I am away at baseball and softball tournaments. I would recommend the Garmin units.

Have had a Garmin 350 for almost 2 years now, just bought one (same model) for each of my kids.. think there down to about $150 now. Excellent model. whatever model you get, be sure it has "text to speech".. that way you hear "turn right on elm street" instead of "turn right"

Garmin Nuvi. I started out with a 200 wide screen and the only thing I didn't lie about it was it did not announce the street name when telling you to do something i.e turn ahead vs turn ahead on Smith St. That can be a big help in conjested areas or areas you just are not familiar with. I have upgraded to the Nuvi 760 since then for about $240.00 available online from Amazon.com or Walmart.com

Garmin Nuvi, rated No. 1, Does not matter what model youget. Some of them have bells and whistles but they all do the same thing. Some models talk to you with the directions. Thats a great feature. Not that expensive now.

I have the Garmin NUVI too. Touch-screen is great.

Note that I bought an expensive one several years ago (about $500) with Bluetooth and that gave specific street names. That got stolen, and I replaced it w/ the 200W (for about $120 I think) and unfortunately the cheaper version does NOT have the individual street names. I don't think you need to spend $500 to get that feature, but it is nice.
