I was off road 2 weeks ago and hit something in the grass that bent my radiator and fan on my 2008 Ford Explorer. Oh well.... had the car towed to the nearest Ford Dealership and gave the okay for the repair. As of now we still can't get the parts to make the repair nor get anyone at Ford to give any indication of when the parts will be available. This is despite "escalating" the issue at Ford by both the dealer and myself directly. Just my opinion but I read into this that Detroit really is going down the tubes when they can't provide minimum service to an old and "once" very loyal customer. If anyones is in the market for a new vehicle they might want to take this into consideration.

Now you tell me! I bought Ford stock yesterday, dirt cheap. Of the big-three, they are doing the best financially but is sounds like they are losing their edge in customer service. I hope you are telling someone at the corporation. I always had awesome service from Academy Ford in Laurel, although I live far from them now.

Regarding the parts for your Ford: It is no secret that manufacturing has fallen off a cliff over the past six months. Supply shortages will likely become more common in a range of sectors as a result. You may even see labor shortages as companies aggressively slash jobs to boost stocks and balance sheets, only to be caught too shorthanded to compete effectively. The advantage of modern forecasting tools is that companies, especially manufacturers, cut much more quickly than in previous downturns based more on how bad they expect things to get then how bad they are at the moment. As anyone who shops can appreciate, they are also shedding inventory as fast as they can. This could (as in, "probably," but who the heck knows) lead to a record, rapid recovery in labor and manufacturing once the economy begins to show signs of picking up.\1 *

Supplys issues are rampid in all three. Most supliers will not ship parts till they are paid for at this moment. This is more of a production problem. But I am sure it has to due with OEM parts. With bankrupts could be in the near future, that is the only way to guarantee payment

I work with the auto body shops, and have experienced no problems receiving any Ford parts for the last few weeks. The body shops have experienced a sudden increase in vehicle repairs in the last 2 weeks due to the holidays, and bad weather. Sounds like typical dealer BS…I recommend obtaining the itemized repair estimate with the parts backordered parts list, and call another area dealer to see if the parts are truly backordered. Most people do not realize that the “dealer body shops” are independent from the dealer. . I would pull your truck from the dealer, and take it to a independent shop and you will most likely receive a better repair, and service.

Weather the dealer is pulling your leg, or there is a shortage on the parts you need, Exployers have always had there issue of problems on good road(hence the name Exploder), and should never have been taking Off Road:rolleyes:. With the current problems of the Big 3, I would suspect that layoffs at the factory could result in problems getting parts. I got away from Ford long ago and currently drive a 1998 Chevy Crew Diesel......and by no means would I dare purposely abuse the vehicle at this point, by taking her Offroad.

An explorer is not in the same calls as a tahoe...an expedition would have made it apples to apples. Ford full size trucks are the best.
Agreed. I own a Tundra, Silverado and Ford F250 trucks. If I wanted a truck that I was going to run into the ground and expected it to last over 250k or more I would buy another Tundra. If I wanted the best ride and features I would buy another Silverado. If I wanted an absolute work horse there is no question Ford Super Duty. There is no other truck on this planet that has seem harder miles / harder work than my Ford and its still working hard without a problem. Pulls a 20ft trailer every day and most of the time the bed is loaded with either stone, blocks, sand, mulch or whatever. And I mean LOADED. Two thumbs up to Ford Super Duty:thumbup::thumbup: for making the best towing / work horse:yes:

Owned Ford trucks, Bronco, Bronco II, Explorers, (3) all my life.. Bought a Chevy Tahoe three years ago,, will never buy a Ford product again.. Despite what my brother Jack says....
I also owned several for trucks and have had work trucks also I jumped on the other side to a suburban two transmisons and one rear later back to ford I went to the excursion which is on the superduty frame its a great surf fishing suv and can tow a house . there is a reason why ford trucks are the best selling it is certaily not because they are cheaper.their not . but its the old ford chevy thing one just does not like the other has very little to do with anything else.

Ive had minor problems with the ford, Ive owned six Ford pickups from 73-79 one has a 2000 7.3 diesel motor no probs. But I went out and bought a chevy I do not hate.. If it drives and works I'll buy it, but after it was in the shop every week for a head gasket or a blown transmission and window regulators I was done.

My dodge 3500 dually 6 cyl diesel would out pull any of my other trucks if it could keep a transmission for more than 20,000 miles

Ford didn't take any bailout money!!!!!! Maybe if they had, there would be no backorder for parts. Just wait until we have nationalized medicine, we won't be worried about backordered car parts. How did we get into this mess; oh yeah, the people who got us in this mess are in charge of getting us out. 5th (Marty)

I don't blame Bush for this economic situation nor do I give Clinton credit for the boom during the dot.com blitz. With the current situation, we had an over-inflation of the real estate market and in the other case there was an over-inflation of the stock market. Exuberance and greed leading to unreal price levels. Hang in there folks. We'll get back to normal soon. Our system works and it's a great country.

I always hated anything related to Plymouth/Dodge. My wife's pretty Grand Cherokee has passed many so called dual use vehicles without getting dirty...she still won't let me drive it to find he limits. Of course the $800/per wheels kinda makes me take it easy.

I won't buy another product made with UAW hands...After reading all the things that the union employess do to artificially increase their salaries (purposely working slowly, then making up for it by working double time on the weekends at twice their rate for one) I won't buy into it...I'm done with American UAW ****.

Give Cummins radiator a call. 410 646-0800. They might be able to find you one or even fix the one in the truck. Two weeks is BS to fix a simple problem.Sounds like you are getting jerked around.

They have repaired some serious damage for me over the years.Great work at decent price plus FAST turn around.

They are on Washington Blvd near Patapsco Ave.
