My My friend Don, aka Justintime, took me to his favorite perch spot. Brought home 25 fish all about 9-10". Don caught one 12.5". A blue heron stayed with us and we fed him gut hooked perch. Got home filleted and deep fried them. Coated them with mustard and dipped in flour, Old Bay and pepper. Lip smackin good. It was windy and cold out at first light and stayed that way...........Gary

Gary that is a great perch catching report! Was it with lures or bait and what depth--was it near shoreline structure or somewhere else?

You and Don had a great day. Don said he was doing okay with perch, I think that's a little better than okay. Nice job on the 12.5 incher Don. That plate looks yummy Gary.
Thanks for the report and pics.

We got them on a jig at first light. Cold front sent them deep. As it warmed a bit we used worms but none were shallow under structure. All open water.........Gary.

Looking good, nice job. Having my last pack tonight for dinner. Need stock back up.
Enjoyed your company today Gary. The cold front made fishing a little more challenging but we made it work.

Your fried perch looks great. Glad you tried the Mustard. It's surprisingly good, huh?

Great fishing and report. Your perch look so good. I have to tell Pat about the Mustard, flower, and old bay. Thanks!
I enjoy catching perch as much as eating them. But I have to say that is a fine looking plate of fish!

Regular yellow mustard ? Do you mix the old bay and pepper in the flour ? Or just season with pepper and old bay after fried ?

I rub them with yellow mustard as a sticker. I mix flour, Old Bay and pepper an put in a bag. I shake the fillets until they are coated and then fry them in peanut oil.......... Gary

Copy that. Thx. You try crabbing yet ?
I was thinking about going Monday but this cold front has me rethinking. I went fishing Thursday at first light and all the fish that had been shallow moved to deeper water.........Gary

It does make a difference when a cold hits and the water temp drops. Shut my fishing down after weeks of good pan fishing.

It didn't shut us down Andy. We had to search for them though. They weren't in their usual spots. When you are in a boat you can do that. Shore fishing you cant.......Gary
