VA Anglers,

I will be in Chesapeake, VA Saturday and Sunday visiting the inlaws. I need to pick up some parachutes to finish out my spring spread. I am getting ready early since I will be tied up during tax season. Can you recommend any local shops in Chesapeake or VA Beach that have good parachutes at a reasonable price? I already plan to hit Gail’s in Chesapeake.

Any fishing shows or expos going on down there this weekend?

Thanks, Jeremy

Oceans East on North Hampton Blvd has a good selection as does princess Anne distributing on 17th street in Va. Beach. Honestly, most all tackle shops in the area cater to striper fisherman this time of year. Also try Crab Creek , great guy running the place and lots of local knowledge, he's upstairs from the pizza place behind the municipal ramp at lynnhaven.

Go to Princess Anne on 17th street. Oceans East the owner is a dick and has tried to rip me off a few times ringing up stuff wrong. Princess Anne has the better stuff.
I can't believe that anyone, much less the owner, at OE intnetionally tried to rip you off. I've been going there for years and those guys have always been great. Their selection is great, prices are reasonable and they do great rod repair...JMO.

I had an issue with an OE employee a while back and wrote them off........Later on I HAD to go there for a citation fish by chance, they were the only ones open. So I went in with a little attitude( I shouldn't of) and spoke of my previous experience.......they earned my respect back and I have NOT had an issue since then. I / WE spend A TON of money every year on tackle for the charter boat and these guys are a great source and since then have been a pleasure to deal with!!! You certainly wont find a bigger more well stocked store in the South Side area........They just need to keep some of their employees ego out of the business.

Sorry but i have to say b.s.

I agree with MeOff, I have been doing business with them when they first open and never had a problem on price or tackle. The only thing I don't like about them is I can't get out of there less than $60.00 any more.

Another "vote" for Oceans East. Tom's a helluva nice guy... hard to believe he'd try to rip someone off; he's a MUCH better business man than that. Hmmmm... let's see, rip a guy off once, or treat him right and he comes back all the time.

For parachutes, you might want to try to contact Ray Heim (sp?). He makes some good stuff... but, no shop.
