We went out yesterday and caught a few north of Elizabeth City. There were fish between Lamb's and College of the Albemarle and also around Monkey Island. The largest were 17 3/4 and one right at 18', but I put it back.

We didn't have much luck with the Smithwick Rogue, but the Stretch 11+ caught the most fish and the only ones close to being legal.

I heard a report that the keepers were thick just past where we turned around near Shipyard Landing.

Went out Sunday am and fished around the sewer plant and around Duke Swamp. Got 3 nice sized healthy fat fish in about an hour but all 16-17 inches. Nice size though. Just need some length! All on trolled rattleraps blue/chrome.

Had luck at the area by the hospital also

I was trolling on the Pasquotank side by the hospital and my son got two 17.5 rockfish on a silver and black yozuri regular diver. A guy on a boat was coming south and said he got his limit near shipyard road but we tried there and I marked some fish but could not get any of them to bite. When we came back home we stopped and trolled at the Elizabeth City draw bridge and we hooked another 17.5 rock on a deep diving black and silver yozuri. We also hooked a bunch of old lines on a deep diving smithwick and recovered a blue and silver yozuri. I marked alot of fish by the old shipyard in the 27-32 ft water range and we tried bottom jigging but they had lock jaw. Went back on Sunday and did not catch a think but marked fish on the sounder. Any body had any luck at Duk'e swamp or Hospital point lately I have been skunked there the last few times.

Were y'all in the Parker with the T-top? We were in the May-Craft 1800 on the other side trolling back into town. That guy went just a little bit further up the river than us.

I don't know what these fish are but they are there year round and I have hardly ever heard of anyone catching them. Some folks have said its catfish some say herring others say brem. I have tried for years with bottom rigs, jigging, trolling and casting. Once in awhile you might catch a rock but they are few and far between. After awhile I just gave up.

Yeah same here. Every time I go out they are blowing up my sonar but never a bite. I'm going to throw a cast net out there one day and see what I pull up!

We got rock!

Trolled in and around Chantilly on Sunday evening. Hooked a 24 that I thought was big until my son hooked a 29 inch rock right after me. Yes it was 29 inches and 9 pounds. I guess if you are going to be showed up on the boat it is best done by a 11 year old! We went back on Monday morning and landed a 20 incher and came back to reality.:eek2::clap:
