Spent a beautiful late day at the mouth of the river with my wife trolling with clark spoons and bucktails. Schools of bay anchovies were everywhere and easily spotted on the flat water. Fast action started about 6:30 pm and kept going after we pulled in the lines at 7:45 pm to get home before dark. Fishing from 5 to 6:30 was slow. All fish were deep, 10-20 feet down and we never saw breaking fish the entire trip, very unusual in my experience. We kept 12 blues, tossed back a 19" rock, smaller blues and missed many more while trolling 4 rods. All were caught on Clarke spoons using inline sinkers and #1 sea strikers. Blues ranged up to 2 pounds so I'll be preparing fishcakes for dinner and hope to have a few go on the smoker. Great trip.
