I have these in reverse order. I am not much of a camera man or computer guy.

Prayers go out to the families and friends of the folks involved in this.:bigangel:

The incident took place near the CBBT. From what I saw it looked to be around a 18 ' boat, all fiberglass.

The boat was towed to the Virginia Pilots Association facility inside the Lesner Bridge where those folks did a great job of getting the boat righted.. It was than towed over to Crab Creek and put back on it's trailer.

I can tell you that every person I saw from every agency involved in this situation were first class.

Not that it makes much difference... but the boat is some sort of formed or pressed aluminum. Notice the dents in the hull in some of the pictures.

Prayers for the families... :bigangel::bigangel::bigangel:

One problem with a boat like that is that if you take a wave the water usually ends up in the bottom of the boat. I used to have a walleye boat and there were no overboard drains which I believe is standard practice on that style boat.

I thought at first it was all aluminium until we got a closer look at it. Like you say the dents in bottom threw me off.

Dennis & I were standing on the dock when they hoisted the boat out at the pilot house.....seeing the AZ on the boat I crossed back over Lesner and wlked over to the truck and trailor - Both the truck and trailor had AZ tags on them......then after thye righted the boat - towed it again to the Crab Creek side and used the VBPD Truck to laod the boat on the trailor, I helped hook up the victoms trailor to their truck and a police man drove the rig away.....its all fiberglass w/ a 150 and a 9.9 kicker.....it already has a Nov 2009 Boat License on the bow, the cops said they are here "this week" every year....

Hey Dennis - Again, it doesn't make much of a difference so I'm not sure why I'm posting this... but Tracker used (appears they don't make them anymore) a process called stretched formed aluminum to make them appear to be fiberglass. It eliminates all the seams and welds and really looks good. I look at them every year up here at the PA boat shows. The only reason I mention it is because maybe the aluminum caused it to be less stable than a fiberglass boat if it was overloaded and in rough water. Just a guess on my part though...

TRACKER MARINE: TRACKER Performance Aluminum Boats

"A first look at the Tundra convinces most that it's a fiberglass boat because of the curved, flawless finish. It's actually stretch-formed aluminum that's .125 inches thick and painted with a baked-on automotive finish that produces a boat that looks great, is tough and runs very fast."

I think I understand now. It is a skin deal. I never put my hands on it, so I never got a feel for it. The boat actually looked pretty good. When I say that, it seemed to be a deluxe model.

I am not familiar with Tracker boats other than I know they have been around for a good while.

Thanks for the info.

When I went to the link Shaggy posted I couldn't help but notice this quote that they should probably remove

"An expanded Tundra™ Deep V line-up including the new 21 Fishing Team Edition, which pros say delivers the best rough-water ride in the business."
