Search planer boards on the forum, or bmail Skip, 27 sailfish. There's been NUMEROUS post on planer boards, but Skip makes what can be argued the nicest, smoothest pulling planer boards around. Send him a bmail.

Here is the one that I have used. The material includes: 1" X 10" wood board (with a length covering the 3 piece), 3 pieces of 3/8" x 24" threaded rods, 18 sets of 3/8" hex nuts/washers, one piece of wire-eye bolt with 2 nuts and 2 large washers. Assuming that you know how to paint it with your favorable color, the overall cost should be within $50. Then, the pleasure of making a planer and using it to catch a fish is priceless.

Thats when you pull them in or all hell with break loose :D and trust me it is one hell of a mess I have seen guys flip a board and it's nothing but a huge mess, allot of cutting and re -rigging ! One thing that will help you if you don't know is to use a 28 oz or so bell sinker attached to the back of the outside boards this will help from flipping.

Order a set from Skip (27 sailfish) and be done with it. Fairly priced, all stainless steel metal , yellow pine boards....WILL NOT FLIP!!! Been running my set from Skip for 5 seasons in some pretty nasty conditions (up to 4 footers) ......never had a problem. Read some of last springs posts about guys having boards flip. Will ruin your day real quick................Mark

I've fished my boards in honest 3-4 footers when we were taking water over the bow and they did not flip. Most guys go in once it gets rougher then 3 feet anyway. There are a lot of different designs out there and most pull OK.I build them by the dozen and get a break on buying materail in bulk.

Skip's boards are the best - I was going to just buy a set from him, but since he is up north, and I'm down south, I decided to build my own based upon his plans. They work great. Highly recommended, and much thanks to Skip for sharing!

Make your own. Thats part of the fishing experience. Do it with you son or daughter. Get them involve.

My son and I made ours. Work great. Have not flipped over. It was fun spending the time with him passing on the knowledge.
