Fished this morning the outgoing tide. It was almost nonexistent on the river. Not much current and hardly any active fish. We need rain badly to get things going again. So let it rain!

Who really knows...

My theory is that it washes "stuff" down the river that bait feed on. That gets the whole food chain going. Plus having current is part of a striper's ambush strategy. Stripers are not built for speed like fork tail fishes. Nature designed those rascals to make hair pin turns and nail bait fish around structure. Salinity seems to have little effect and water clarity is only an issue if you are fishing live bait. Bottom line, I can fish the same spot for 5 days, if it rains the 4th day, the 5th day is gonna be killer and outproduce the rest. My opinion based on experience inshore and on rivers...
