Found this article this morning. DNR needs to take the boat, lock them up, and throw away the key

Police Board Fishing Vessel; 3 Men CitedOCEAN CITY, Md. (AP)

A Dorchester County man has been charged for a second time in less than a week with illegal commercial fishing.

Natural Resources Police says they boarded the 80-foot trawler Mount Vernon after watching it drag a net Sunday about two miles from the Ocean City inlet. Police seized nearly 3 tons of striped bass. Those charged included 69-year-old Jack Colbourne, owner of Colbourne Seafood Inc. in Secretary.

Colbourne and two other men were cited for fishing between 6 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, when fishing is off limits.

Colbourne had already been cited last week for exceeding his seasonal allocation for striped bass. Police say the catch was sold and the money is being held in escrow until the cases are settled.

I read that this morning as well. Crazy they get charged twice in one week. They should lose the privilege of being able to catch Rockfish if they are not going to follow the rules.

3 tons is 6,000 lbs of Rock.Go with a 20lb average and that's 300 fish.

Even if they only get $1.00 a lb (which is way low) - still $6,000.00 is alot of money. At $2.00 a lb - it's $12,000.00 , not bad for n illegal night's work. They were netting from 6pm until 5 am. Funny- guess they did not want anyone to see them out there.

Yeah - the fine of $250.00 to $500.00 is a real deterent :52:.

DNR is catching these poachers - time the judges stop playing catch and release.

I think I know one of the individuals charged in the Solomons incident. Wouldn't necessarily call him a "friend" more of an acquaintance. If it is who I suspect it is, I'm kinda surprised he would involve himself in any kind of illegal activity. But after 35 years of being a police officer nothing really surprises me too much. Maybe sometimes you don't know a person as good as you think you do. Seems like there might be more to this story than what's been reported so far, kinda anxious to hear more.
