I'm going to buy an electric pressure washer this weekend in the 1500 PSI range for cleaning my boat. I've looked at the Karcher, Husky, and Cambell Hausfeld brands. Anyone have any experience with these? Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'd recommend getting a gas one personally. There are a lot of uses for a pressure washer and bigger is better. Mine is 2600/6HP Craftsman that does everything I need, and well.

One recommendation is to buddy with someone that has a 1500 PSI model and road test it.. see if it has the power you need.

I agree with the gas model and at least 2250 PSI. You might want to rent an electric 1500 PSI and try it before you buy. Then rent/borrow the gas model. I do recommend that you look for a gas model with the Honda engine. One problem with the electric is that you need a outlet to make it work as well as water. You may also run into the problem of how far from the electrical source you can go because of load.

Absolutly GAS, Just make sure you don't get one with so much psi that it will take anything off of anything. Like you try to wash shingles, it will remove the shingles. They are not adjustable as far as pressure. In the 2K range should do whatever you want, make sure it has wheels, those suckers get heavy for us old folks and you cant go wrong with a Honda engine. I have a HD Honda but its gas. Can't use it in my marina at least not down on the docks. Was hoping for something light weight that I can take on board and wash off the waterline scum and clean the deck then just store in my dock box. Thanks for the replies. Have to think about this one.

Slipsinker: I have a gas model Karcher that put out 1500 psi. It will peel the skin off my fingers in a heart beat. The cutting power is determined by how close you hold it to the surface to be cleaned. Personally, I have some concerns about water in the close proximity of electricity. The resulting mix has the potential to be shocking. Most of my friends that have purchased electric washers have gone over to gas powered models. They are heavier but the results are better IMHO. FWIW
Tight Lines,[grin]

Just bought from Costco for $300 a Karcher 2500, 6.0 Tecumseh overhead valve engine. More power than you'll ever need. The one bad thing, I wanted to get a rotating brush attachment, but there isn't one available for the 2500 psi and up. They only make brush attachments for lower psi models. Also, the aftermarket brushes they sell at Home Depot and Sears do not work on the high powered wands.

The better power washers have a higher gallons per min. output, which cleans better. 25 psi and 3--3 1/2 gpm can take care of most any job. It should come with at least 3 or 4 different size nozzles. I had a Kracher, it lasted about 3 years. If you can find parts, a pump will cost more then buying a new one. Honda engine and a cat pump you can't go wrong. I bought mine from an outfit in Arizona I found on the internet.
