I put in bay side at the end of the causeway, the trees we're blocking a stiff breeze from the west. I was painting lots of bait (bay anchovies) between the causeway and the pier from the shore line to 12foot depth( 300yds). The bait would occassionally break the surface but no stripers, trout or blues. No breaking fish, spent 3 hours searching with no bites. The drifter has the odor of skunk on it. I was casting a chartruse/white clouser on a Teeny 200 no hits, I then bounced a Opening Night BA on the bottom, no hits. It was a beautiful day to paddle just no fish. The Potomac side had white caps. The park rangers had a speed trap set on the causeway, so watch you speed (20mph) in that area.

Did you try out by the oyster reef that's about 100yds in front of the pier? I'm curious when that area starts heating up. It was the hot ticket for blues up to 24" and 18" stripers last year in September.
